Fences- A Better Way to Restrict the Outdoor Noise

The fences are specially designed for the purpose of sound blocking and are capable enough to reduce the amount of noise entering your yard. The amount of sound reduction by outdoor soundproofing will be lesser as compared to the amount of sound reduction with indoor soundproofing. The important elements of an outdoor fencing include:
  1. Height: It is one of the important elements that are to be considered while getting fences

installed. In order to restrict the outdoor noise, make sure that the fences are tall. In most of the cases, the barrier wall is required to be 12-15 feet high to effectively restrict the noise, the higher, and the better. But, do not forget to check your local regulations to see if there is any limit to the height of the structure you are about to get built.
  2. Mass: The solid or massive substance is only capable of blocking the noise. Of course, the thicker, the better! You can consider any of these materials to get soundproof fencing done at your place:
  • Wood: It is good and relatively inexpensive material to be used for fencing.
  • Steel sheeting: Very durable and weather resistant material.
  • Straw bales: This material is cheap and quick to install.
  • Concrete or masonry: It is an effective option but involves a higher investment.
  • Rammed earth: Effective and Eco-friendly material, but is super expensive.
The soundproof fencing should be designed and constructed effectively so that there are no gaps or holes. Even a little crack is enough for noise wave to find its way to enter your place. To restrict the unwanted noise to enter your place you can consider the option of landscaping. Trees and bushes, unfortunately, don’t do much to block sound but they are helpful in taking the edge off some high-frequency noises.
